New Course
CONFRONTING—AND OVERCOMING? — DIFFICULTIES IN SURVEY RESEARCH is the title of a new course I will offer in Fall, 2013. This course is based on my new book, The Problem with Survey Research. There are three major components of this course. 1. Identification and discussion of the major difficulties in survey research; such as low response, positional bias, interviewer effects, respondents’ memory, and so on. 2. Identification and discussion of procedures used in survey research to deal with these difficulties; including callbacks and incentives to increase response, probes, etc. 3. Assessment of these procedures; how effective are they? have the difficulties been overcome? The course concludes with brief discussions of observation, experiments, and other social science methods as alternatives to survey research.
I have established two new website pages as archive locations for conference papers and posters: Papers and Posters.
